USAHA GURU DALAM MENINGKATKAN MINAT SISWA MEMPELAJARI MATEMATIKA

Teach math is not easy, because most of students feel difficult to learn math. It is because there are a lot of obstacles in teaching math. The obstacles are the understanding of the theory meaning, how to apply it, the system, the condition of the environment, and the facility.
Most students don’t like math because of the teacher can’t teach clearly. There are some difficulties that are faced by the teacher in teaching math. Some of them are :
1.      Overcome the student’ different abilities.
2.      Support the student to study hard.
3.      Develop the technology in learning math.
4.      The high target score and finish the syllabus.
5.      As if teachers don’t have other alternative to teach math.
Generally, math is an investigation of pattern and relationship activity. The implication to the teachers’ effort is giving chances to student to invent and investigation the pattern to determinate the relation; give chances to students to invent the sequence, difference, comparison, category, etc; support the student to give conclusion and help the students to understand the one meaning and others.
Math is a creativity that needs imagination, intuition, and invention. The implication is support the inisiatif and give chance to think differently, support the student to rebut and hypnotize, respect the intention out of the hypothesis, and many others.
Math is a problem solving activity that the implication is help the student to solves the problem, use their own ways. Besides that, support the student to think logically, consistently, and systematically.
The student will study if there is a motivation. A number of ways to motivate students, for example, provide interesting activities, give attention to their wants, build the meaning through what they know, give challenge, respect each achievement, etc.
As a teacher, we have to know what the student know, the way that they can use, the  which competiencies that they can use, what they can remember, and the last is what they have got.
In order to make the students like math, there are some points that we have to notice :
1.      The main person in learning teaching process is the students, not the teacher.
2.      Do the cognition and be democratic in teaching.
3.      The student’ faults is paedagogically.
4.      Be patient and wait for the students invent the way and the answer.
5.      Give internal motivation.
6.      Be flexible.
7.      Teacher is educators, facilitators, and dynamisators.
8.      Get close contact between teachers and student.
9.      Teachers curriculum developer, not only the curriculum doer.
